Sleep Masks To Beat Travel Fatigue

The benefits of taking a sleep mask on your trip are many. Wherever I’m travelling, it’s the first thing I toss on the bed ready to go in the suitcase.

I’ve got to admit, I’m a bit obsessed with the ritual of preparing my travel essentials before heading off on a trip. It’s true none of us have been getting much jet-setting done this year and I don’t suppose I’m alone in having more time than usual kicking around at home, which got me to thinking about all this stuff I pack and why I love it so much.

Chief among all this kit for me is a contoured sleep mask. You see, I am not a good sleeper but I give it my all every time I’m flying. Longhaul travel in particular plays havoc with the body; crossing time zones on planes, trains and automobiles often leads to travel fatigue.

So, what is travel fatigue? It feels like a total exhaustion, caused by too many days or weeks of constantly being alert while you travel. It manifests as apathy toward travel activities that usually excite you, and a lack of motivation to enjoy local culture and cuisine.

How do you beat travel fatigue then? If you can find a way to magically fall asleep virtually everywhere then you’re well on the way to cracking it!

Whilst sleep can never be guaranteed, keeping a sleep mask to hand will give you the best chance of nodding off quickly. Lightweight, easy to carry with you, and useful in a wide range of different circumstances, a good sleep mask can help block the world out while you catch some shuteye.

Not just for sleeping, this travel accessory can help reduce stress levels or even ease away a headache.
